WHAT IS A JUNIOR THESPIAN?
§ A Thespian is an Actor.
§ A Junior Thespian is a theatre person in grades 6th- 8th who participates in and loves theatre.
§ As a troupe we celebrate theatre. If you enjoy acting and working behind the scenes, this organization is for you!
WHAT DO WE DO?
Junior Thespian Troupes are a part of the International Thespian Society (ITS). ITS is the only organization to honor middle school students for outstanding work in theatre. The Society focuses on students, their achievements and aims to provide access to quality theatre arts instruction. As a troupe we explore acting through theatre games, participate in theatre fundraisers, take part in service projects, and show dedication by attending shows in our theatrical community.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?
You do NOT have to be a member of Troupe to attend meetings. In fact, you actually earn points toward your membership by attending! Each students who wants to be involved will maintain a Jr. Thespian point sheet. When the student reaches 10 points, they are eligible to be inducted into the troupe. We hold one induction ceremony per year, in conjunction with our end of year banquet.
MEETINGS
We meet Thursday mornings before school in Theatre room A223.
