At BHISD, we are fostering resilience, empathy, and accountability through the 7 Mindsets program. By incorporating these principles into our classrooms, we are equipping our students with the tools they need to navigate challenges and become compassionate leaders.
Barbers Hill ISD is focused on fostering positive learning experiences and overall well-being for all our students with 7 Mindsets. The program is backed by extensive research, identifying 28 key characteristics that predict happiness and success in individuals.
The 7 Mindsets program empowers students for academic and lifelong success. Designed to unlock an individual's full potential, fostering resilience and nurturing empathy and compassion, 7 Mindsets provides a comprehensive PreK-12 curriculum, as well as professional learning for teachers and staff.
The engaging lessons require only 10 minutes of preparation time (which makes it easy for teachers) and promote strong connections between students, educators, and our school community.
The 7 Mindsets program has already benefited millions of students and educators nationwide, improving behavior, engagement, and academic success in diverse districts across all 50 states. By implementing the 7 Mindsets program, we look forward to nurturing safe and supportive learning communities that ensure a brighter future for all.
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
BHISD believes in the importance of character development and social emotional learning to ensure a focus on the whole child. We will focus on the social emotional skills that have been proven to help us grow productive, empathic, and successful people.
Research demonstrates that integrating social and emotional learning across the learning process produces better academic performance, improved attitudes and behavior, less negative behaviors and reduced emotional stress. In addition, an SEL focus enhances school culture and self-management which improves school safety.
